Our street dancing story is not over. Here, I will tell you about our victory party, the finale of our story. We have promised our dancers that win or lose, we will have our celebration but since we won, we now called it as our victory party. Isn’t so nice to have it labeled that way?
We had our 2 day preparation for the said party. Everybody helped and participated in decision making. We bought snacks and drinks, planned meals for the big day and we came up with 4 delicious dishes. We had grilled bangus, pork lechon, dinuguan, and pork pastillas.
We went to Covelandia du Labrador, a family resort, 30 minute drive from our place. We left our place as early as 8 a.m. and we were very fortunate to have the resort all for ourselves. We were 70 all in all including our supporters and 48 dancers. We were so happy that day; we played games in the pool and eat a lot afterwards. People are starting to arrive when afternoon came and that made it more exciting. Everyone has their sun burn, tan lines everywhere especially with the kids. Lots of pictures taken, happy faces, foods and laughter. That was one of the best days that we had as a team. We went home at around 12 midnight, and everybody was exhausted but surely with a smile in their faces.
Our bagoong fiesta is about to end, and everybody is really happy about the event. Our street dancing competition is the very highlight of the fiesta. Six bagoong makers joined in the said competition, all did their very best, their efforts to practice for two months all of that were seen in their performances. All was close to perfection, costumes, dance routines and props were all wonderful.
The day started with the assembly in our town plaza. We were there at exactly 2p.m. to have everything ready for the parade and for the street dancing competition. We were all very nervous about it especially when we saw our competitors wearing their costumes with their marching bands. Big set of drums were seen everywhere, colorful costumes, beautiful muses and so many people. Our dancers looked very nervous as well. Some felt stomachaches and dizziness because of their nervousness, and we all laughed about it after the competition.
There were 4 stations wherein we have to perform our dance, and each station with take 2 kilometers to reach that was why we were all very exhausted when we reached the final stop. The street dancing and the bagoong dance competition was held at the different time so we still had time to take a rest before we proceed to the final competition. The rest of the story will follow. So be updated to my other website, corlitosway.com.
This site is now open for the advertisers who are willing to advertise their products, business, and even their names and at the same time can extend their donations to the Anak Pawis Artists Foundation. The proceeds from advertising will be used to help finance the up coming art workshop for the youth. We are encouraging those who have a heart for art to please be generous in helping build dreams of young ones, be a good Samaritan in your own little way. “Become rich in every way, and give abundantly. What you give will become, through us, a thanksgiving to God.” (2 Corinthians 9:11)
When I started making my own website, I taught that it is a tool in raising fund for our foundation, the Anak- Pawis Artists foundation that is founded for the youth and for those aspiring artists. Sponsors may came from different countries who has really a heart for art, indeed in just a few days of our campaign many had donated. I just can’t imagine the quick response from visitors of my website, their generosity and their trust in our foundation. They truly believe that it is really for a good cost. For those who donated, I know that what they have shared with us will just bounce back and even doubles it. So for those who already donated and gave their support, we really thank you from the bottom of our hearts .. May God bless you even more guys!
Because of your support, our group is planning to held another art workshop on this coming December 2009, with the theme ” Building the Future Artists” and this can be made possible with your generous help.
We the Anak- Pawis Artists group organized a foundation for the young artists to help them enhance their talent in arts especially those who are indigent. We did several Art Workshops before where in youth are the main participants, they shown their interests and willingness in learning about art, that’s why we decided to continue what we have started, to educate more youth in relation to Arts. The reason why we launch a campaign is to ask for your help inform of a donation. It can be inform of cash or any art materials that can be use in our advocacy because our group fund is not enough to provide all the things needed for an Art Workshop.
As we continue this project together with you as our sponsor, we are aiming to create a competitive artist that someday who knows can be a great Artist.
So guys, we are asking for your generosity… A little amount is a big help. Please support the Anak Pawis Artist foundation. Thank you for your donations.
I used to ride a big bike during my youth days, so I decided to make a charcoal drawing like this one as my mere memento. I did this to show as a sample drawing to my students, to serve as their inspiration for them to make a drawing just like this. Being a good teacher, it must be done in action not only in words so that your students will believe in you. To show a drawing like this, they will be inspired to do charcoal drawings that requires a lot of hard-work and patience because this drawing is within the field of realism. Doing a realistic drawing is not easy, you should catch all the details especially the shade and shadow.
I’m glad that many appreciated my drawing and they were happy because of the craftsmanship. I taught my students to do their artworks with a lot of patience for them to bring out the true beauty of their work. All of my hardwork and perseverance in teaching and sharing to my students all about drawing are all worth it because they learned and apply those learning in their artworks, for me it’s a great achievement!
If you want to learn more about charcoal drawing just comment on this page.
A romantic scene. Feel free to express your love while riding your bike.
From shade, shadow and the color tones came a well executed charcoal painting. This charcoal painting was made by my student before ( Ernesto Suga Jr. ) and now became my buddy and ” kumpadre “. Even though he’s now in other field, I know that there’s still spirit of art left on his heart. Because an artist is always an artist.
Have fun with paper and pencil. During my spare time I used to sketch different portraits, landscape and even still life. My model in this artwork is my lovely daughter Coleen when she was 6 months old.
